Karl Donoghue

Karl Donoghue graduated from Ravensbourne College of Art & Design in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Fashion Design and Textiles. With the success of his graduation collection and encouragement from both the Real Sheepskin Association and Senior RCA lecturer Anne Toomey, a full range of lambskin and leather accessories was launched under his own label 'Karl Donoghue' in 1995. The brand established itself internationally and buyer demand led to the introduction of women's ready to wear for winter 2000.

Numerous collaborations with leading designers followed but the most significant was with Joseph who, by inviting Karl to design for his collection helped strengthen his position as a groundbreaking designer using only the finest materials.

The winter 2010 collection is further evidence of the label's growing influence with new collaborations including Japanese retailer Little New York, Hong Kong luxury department store Lane Crawford and internet phenomenon Net-a-porter.com. For 15 years now, Karl has been inspired by the beauty of natural skins and their unique intrinsic qualities. This anniversary is a tribute to Karl's integrity and his respect of the Real Sheepskin Association principles. As he was recently quoted saying in twice yearly exclusive fashion publication 'Luxure': "Creating designs from some of the world's most beautiful skins is a privilege I have everyday. Each skin is unique in its character making every garment special to the wearer. What could be more luxurious than this in a world of mass production?"
